a dialogue between two geniuses
Imagine a musical dialogue between two eras, where the depth of Baroque meets the passion of tango. Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing sound of three iconic instruments—cello, bandoneon, and double bass—for a musical journey where styles intertwine and enrich one another. The Barocco Tango Trio invites you to experience a fascinating encounter between these two legendary composers. This bold choice is far more than a simple juxtaposition; it reveals a striking dialogue between the elegance of Baroque and the vibrant energy of nuevo tango. Through innovative arrangements, the Barocco Tango Trio reimagines these two musical worlds, blending tradition and modernity into a truly unique concert experience.
Bach, master of counterpoint and subtle emotion, shaped the course of music with a nearly architectural precision in his compositions. On the other hand, Piazzolla revolutionized tango, breathing new life into the genre and transforming it into something both sophisticated and deeply expressive. Despite the centuries between them, these two geniuses share remarkable commonalities: a fearless drive to innovate, an ability to touch the soul, and an unparalleled inventiveness that gave birth to unique musical landscapes.
On stage, the musicians of the Barocco Tango Trio—David Louwerse (cello), Guillaume Hodeau (bandoneon), and Renaud Bary (double bass)—do more than simply perform these works. They draw you into the stories behind these visionary composers. With humor and warmth, they share insights and anecdotes, shedding light on the unexpected connection between Bach and Piazzolla.
This concert is an invitation to witness the chemistry between three musicians, their passion, and the sheer joy they bring to playing together. Expect an evening of striking contrasts, where Bach’s radiant brilliance meets Piazzolla’s intoxicating fervor. A one-of-a-kind musical experience that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
